Prevalence of Carbapenem Resistance and their Genotypic Profile among Gram-Negative Bacteria in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Western India

چکیده
Background: Resistance to carbapenems due carbapenemases has been increasingly noticed worldwide. Detection of among Gram‑negative bacteria (GNB) is important for
both clinicians and infection control practitioners. Both phenotypic molecular methods can be used for detection Carbapenemases production. Molecular although the gold standard are not routinely as they might immediately available coupled with expertise required, cost infrastructure incurred limited by number targets detected.
Methods: Consecutive non-repeat gram negative isolates isolated from various clinical specimens intensive care unit (ICU) were included in study. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was done on Mueller Hinton’s agar Kirby Bauer Disc diffusion method per Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines. Isolates resistant Meropenem further screened carbapenemase producing genes using multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The results statistically analysed.
Result: A total 350 carbapenem resistance. Carbapenem resistance found 109 GNB. metallo‑ β‑lactamases most common followed KPC.
Conclusion: Carbapenemase a major threat 21st century. Preventing emergence spread these pathogens through strict practices, judicious use antibiotics early timely will contribute preserving carbapenems, last resort antibiotics.

Detection of Carbapenem Resistant Gram-Negative Bacteria in Clinical Isolates from a Tertiary Care Hospital
Multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria are a major public health threat. However, intense efforts to limit their spread, the number of multidrug resistant Gram-negative bacteria continues to increase globally. Carbapenems, the most broad-spectrum beta lactam antibiotics active against Gram-negative organisms, are very slowly hydrolyzed by most beta-lactamases. Because of their broad-spectru...
متن کاملDetection of Metallo-Beta-lactamase Production in Rare Carbapenem-Resistant Non-fermentative Gram-Negative Bacilli Isolated in a Tertiary Care Hospital, Visakhapatnam, India
Introduction: Non-fermentative Gram-negative bacilli (NFGNB) are occasionally involved in infectious diseases pathology, but have shown resistance to multiple antibiotics and the capability to gain new resistance factors in the hospital environment. The present study was aimed to investigate the antibiotic susceptibility pattern of rare NFGNB isolated from different clinical samples and the pre...
متن کاملPrevalence and Haemolytic Significance of Red Cell Antibodies among Dangerous Universal Donors in a Tertiary Care Hospital in South India
Background and Aims: A subgroup of group O individuals called ‘dangerous universal donors’ have immune (IgG) anti A and anti B antibodies which are active at 37˚C and capable of reacting with the red cells and causing lysis. The aim of this study was to find the prevalence of dangerous O group among the voluntary donor population and to assess the relation between the degree of haemolysis and t...
متن کاملCarbapenem Resistance among Enterobacter Species in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Central India
Objective. To detect genes encoding carbapenem resistance among Enterobacter species in a tertiary care hospital in central India. Methods. Bacterial identification of Enterobacter spp. isolates from various clinical specimens in patients admitted to intensive care units was performed by routine conventional microbial culture and biochemical tests using standard recommended techniques. Antibiot...
متن کاملAntibiotic Resistance Pattern of Gram-Negative Bacteria in Gorgan
Abstract Background and Objective: The excessive use of broad-spectrum antibiotics will lead to drug resistance of microorganism and specially nosocomial organisms. Because of high incidence of antibiotic resistance in hospitals, we aimed to study antibiotic resistance to gram negative bacteria. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on the data of biological sampl...
